An original diamond studded medal with green enamel laurel leaves and a gold, red, white and blue central plaque. The "Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur", created 1820 by Napoleon Bonaparte is the highest decoration bestowed by the nation. Circa 1870. Silver over gold. A highly collectible jewel.
