ABOUT THESE EARRINGS

For almost two centuries, the glorious foil-backed garnets in these Georgian jewels have glimmered with a rich, deep Cabernet hue, brightened by flashes of fiery red. The fetching earrings feature trios of pear-shaped garnets topped by a round stone, that dangle beneath sweeping ear wires set with pear-shaped and round garnets, all together creating delightful drops to dance about your face. Hand fabricated in 9K gold. Condition note: one garnet has a shallow chip. When a set is in order, we have a matching necklace: 90-1-14319.

Georgian Jewelry

True antiques, Georgian jewels are the earliest pieces in our collection. Lovely foil-backed stones in mixed-metal settings were made to shine by candlelight over dinner and in the drawing rooms of their genteel wearers. Many pieces were made in memory of loved ones or as “memento mori”—literal reminders of mortality that Georgians saw as sophisticated, rather than morbid. While the delicacy of Georgian era settings has been replaced by more modern methods, the cuts and styles have continued to fascinate jewelry lovers.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
