Hearkening back to a pre-texting time when sweet sentiments were expressed through jewelry, this enchanting brooch/locket is rife with meaning. Hand fabricated in 18K gold (circa mid-1800s), with a hand-engraved sculptural leaf and swirling vine motif, the front is decorated with a colorful cluster of gemstones, which, taking the first letter of each stone (ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, ruby, and diamond), spell 'Regard,' a term used to convey appreciation and deep affection during the era. The reverse reveals an open-face locket, perfect for displaying a small photo of the one so held in high regard. An alluring and romantic Georgian treasure. Condition note: The gemstones show abrasion, and the gold has two small breaks that do not affect the integrity of the piece.
