ABOUT THESE EARRINGS

Most likely of mid-20th-century Dutch origin, these scintillating old world drop earrings, measuring just over 1 1/8-inch long, are faithfully recreated in early-to-mid-19th century Georgian style. The teardrop shape dangles swing and sway with an array of softly sparkling rose-cut diamonds set in darkened silver over 14K gold, and a small cabochon ruby adorns the centers of the fancy tops. Although not quite as rare as their century-older counterparts, these ravishing, almost antique jewels seldom come around. Total diamond weight, 3.30 carats.
