ABOUT THIS RING

Most likely created in mid-twentieth century Holland, in faithful emulation of early-nineteenth century English Georgian style, this classic 'halo' ring sparkles with a central rose-cut diamond (estimated at .65 carat but with the outline of a 1.75 carat modern round-cut stone), orbited by thirteen smaller rose-cuts, for a total estimated diamond weight of 1.15 carats. Handcrafted in darkened silver over low carat rose gold, this somewhat delicate jewel is not recommended for everyday wear. The top measures just over 1/2 diameter. Currently a petite ring size 5. Georgian Jewelry

True antiques, Georgian jewels are the earliest pieces in our collection. Lovely foil-backed stones in mixed-metal settings were made to shine by candlelight over dinner and in the drawing rooms of their genteel wearers. Many pieces were made in memory of loved ones or as “memento mori”—literal reminders of mortality that Georgians saw as sophisticated, rather than morbid. While the delicacy of Georgian era settings has been replaced by more modern methods, the cuts and styles have continued to fascinate jewelry lovers.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
