ABOUT THIS RING

Measuring a striking 1 1/8-inch long, this lovely work of wearable art by the renowned Ruriko Ito*, the accomplished Japanese jewelry designer and goldsmith, features a large glossy pink cabochon coral dressed up with small sparkling white diamonds and framed in bright and shimmering matte-finished 18K yellow gold. A chic and stylish estate jewel. Signed Ruriko - 2002. 'Eclat' meaning 'sparkle' is also engraved on the ring back. Currently ring size 5 1/2. *Ruriko, jewellery instructor at HJI, is also the founder of Pixelry, a contemporary jewellery brand that has a spirit of Japanese craft and soul for beauty. Pixelry has two main lines of jewellery collections: one that is casual, easy to wear jewellery; the second line is authentic and expressive, through which she is able to express her inner world with metal. Ruriko is a goldsmith by heart and was classically trained at the Hiko Mizuno College of Jewelry in Tokyo. She also learned the art of traditional Japanese Inlay, Zougan, under the tutelage of the renowned contemporary jewellery master, Kimiaki Kageyama. Ruriko’s designs fuse Japanese craftsmanship with her own artistic inspiration, resulting in unique, wearable works of art. While her pieces are inspired by nature, they present elements of organic forms and shapes, and embody the origins of oriental beauty. Ruriko’s designs try to capture the moment when time freezes, and when the motion of life stops… to then confine it in the shape of jewellery. “I like to create shapes that tickle human memory. My wish is that my jewellery pieces remain unforgettable in people’s memories.” Among Ruriko’s accomplishments are being invited to exhibit her work in over 10 international jewellery exhibitions including the JOYA Barcelona Art Jewelry Fair in Spain, the SICF Art Show in Japan, and the Hong Kong International Jewelry Show in Hong Kong. Currently, Ruriko continues to express her artistry through metal and other organic material to create stunning and unique pieces of jewellery art.

About Estate Jewelry

Though it calls to mind grand manor houses in the English countryside, “estate” is just a fancy way of describing any piece of jewelry with a previous owner. That’s pretty much everything in our collection. We tend to use “estate” to refer to pieces in our collection with a more modern or contemporary design, or vintage-inspired designs. These perennial gems are selected in harmony with our original antique and vintage pieces…they’re just a little bit younger!

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
