A superb picture locket from the late 19th to early 20th century exhibiting both Victorian and Art Nouveau influences. A fierce, green-eyed Griffin rendered in repousse is coming alive and is encircled by a constellation of six small round, old-mine cut diamonds. The eye is set with a demantoid garnet. The reverse is floridly engraved with unintelligible, over-lapping initials. Just shy of one inch round.
