ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

With its captivating, deep cobalt-blue hue, it's no wonder that lapis lazuli was powdered to create the ultramarine pigment used by painters prior to the 19th century. This arresting Mid-Century necklace presents a double strand of graduated lapis beads, each one bearing unique markings of pyrite (golden) and calcite (creamy white). The wonderfully weighty assemblage closes by way of a heart-shaped clasp with twisted borders, decorated with sapphires and a single cultured pearl. A bold and commanding jewel, perfect for 'painting' your neckline. Total sapphire weight, .85 carat. Hand fabricated with 14K yellow gold, the strands measure 20 and 21 1/2 inches.

About Mid-Century Jewelry

Mid-Century jewelers gave the Victorians a run for their money when it came to variety—with the added bonus of big, bold gems in every shape, size, and color. Themes of previous eras were made fabulous enough to match the optimism of the post-war world. Transitional pieces bridged the gap between the first and second half of the 20th century.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
