Mid-Century Foo Dog with Natural Jade and Lapis
ABOUT THIS NECKLACE
Chinese Imperial guardian lions, also known as Foo Dogs, are traditional Chinese architectural ornaments believed to symbolize prosperity and success. You can have your very own miniature version with this most unusual pendant. This three-dimensionally sculpted Foo Dog is accented with forest green enamel and rests on a gold-topped, vivid blue lapis pedestal, with a marbled green jade bead (street lamp?) added above for good measure. Warning: his eyes pop in and out! A fabulous, one-of-a-kind, sure-fire conversation piece. Mid-20th-century vintage. In 18K gold, it measures 1 1/2 inches. The newer chain is 18 inches long.
