ABOUT THIS JEWELRY
Menuki are parts of a Japanese Katana (Samurai sword). They are the decorative metal ornaments that are woven under the tsuka-ito (handle wrapping). These ornaments were originally made to hide the mekugi pins that secure the tsuka to the tang of the blade. Now, however, courtesy of the late great San Francisco institution - Gump's, they make for a fabulous and collectable pair of cuff links, each backed in 18K yellow gold. Be sure to keep the rooster a safe distance from the hen.
