ABOUT THIS WATCH

While you may bemoan (occasionally) the high-tech times in which we live, we have some quite lovely jewels to remind you of a simpler time--literally. Predating the modern smartphone (with a time display feature) by about 500 years, pocket watches were an elegant way to check the hour, and this one is elegant indeed. The front gleams with an intensely vivid cobalt blue enamel over guilloche engraving, embellished with a fancy gold foliate motif that twinkles with tiny rose-cut diamonds, while a textured frame--decorated with scrolls, stylized tulips, and black enamel--creates a surround of striking contrast. And the reverse side is not plain. The center presents an intricate work of scrolls, tiny flowers, and plumes, encircled by an exquisitely engraved design that creates a mesmerizing optical effect. Though its time-telling is not quite accurate, this horological beauty is accompanied by its original key wind time-setting tool and makes a fabulous pendant when suspended from a chain. Beautifully crafted in 14k gold.

About Victorian Jewelry

The eclectic Victorians didn’t limit themselves when it came to motifs and themes—if it struck their fancy, they turned it into jewelry. Sweet and sentimental with a distinct romantic streak, Victorian gems expanded upon their Georgian predecessors. The array of styles that blossomed (sometimes quite literally) during this era endure to this day.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
