ABOUT THESE EARRINGS

From mid-20th-century Italy, these fun and festive ear baubles, cleverly designed and hand fabricated in 18K white gold in time- honored *en tremblant fashion, are composed of diamond-centered sapphire, ruby, and emerald-petaled flowers encircling central diamond flowers. All of the blooms spin in place, adding a subtle motion. Fabulous!

*En tremblant is a French term - meaning "to tremble". It was first used to describe 18th and 19th century jewelry where parts of the diamond set pieces were attached to a trembler to create movement in the jewel when worn. Brooches in particular were fitted this way which was particularly effective in reflecting the fire of candlelight. (Courtesy of AJU - Antique Jewelry University).

About Mid-Century Jewelry

Mid-Century jewelers gave the Victorians a run for their money when it came to variety—with the added bonus of big, bold gems in every shape, size, and color. Themes of previous eras were made fabulous enough to match the optimism of the post-war world. Transitional pieces bridged the gap between the first and second half of the 20th century.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
