Klondike Gold Nugget Watch Chain/Necklace
$3,950.00
This wonderful wearable memento from either the California Gold Rush (circa 1849), or the Alaskan Gold Rush (circa 1900), is composed of 23 natural golden nuggets connected by rose gold links to form a fun and fabulous 14 1/2 inch long necklace/watchchain culminating in a horseshoe/winch pendant hand fabricated by a notable Alaskan jeweler of the time - *W.H. Mendham. However, the pendant is mysteriously marked 'Made in Carson' (of California Gold Rush fame). We'll let a more intrepid gold Rush/Jewelry historian figure this one out. *Manufacturing jeweler W. H. Mendham is listed in Fairbanks directories from the very late 19th century into the second decade of the 20th; he is also known to have operated a branch in Juneau at the same time.
