Late-Victorian Aquamarine Lavalière Necklace
Dating back to the late 19th-century/turn-of-the-last-century (circa 1890-1900, an interesting and artfully combination of Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Nouveau aethetics), this large and lovely lavalière (measuring 2 7/8 by 2 1/8 inches) glistens and glows with a half-dozen very light blue (almost colorless) aquamarines of various shapes and sizes. The open whiplash design, composed of 9ct. rose gold knifewire (hence of British origin), is a precursor to the more elaborate Art Nouveau designs to come. Accented with a trio of small seed pearls.
