ABOUT THIS RING
Prized by Mayan and Aztec peoples who called the gem, "the stone of the bird of paradise," the aptly named fire opal was formed in the depth of ancient volcanoes. Unlike white or black opals, the fire opal has a warm and glowing yellow, orange, or red body color. The 9.00 carat oval stone that shows off in this eye-catching estate jewel has an entrancing translucent orange hue bursting with a riotous color play of blue, green, yellow, and pinkish-orange flecks. Needing no additional embellishment, it is elegantly held by split prongs that lead to hand-engraved shoulders, while a finely fashioned louvered under gallery adds the finishing detail to this radiant and remarkable ring. Hand fabricated in platinum, currently ring size 6 1/2.
