ABOUT THESE EARRINGS
Unique, to say the least, these strikingly stunning and colorful vintage ear drops are composed of four individual round discs, each displaying under glass a masterfully hand painted miniature of a beautiful historic site in India, including: Taj Mahal (left earring top), Humayum's Tomb (left earring, bottom), and the Red Fort (right earring, bottom), and perhaps the three domed mosque located in the complex of the Tomb of Safdarjung, in New Delhi. (Compliments of a very helpful student of Victorian jewelry history at Columbia Univerisity, who may have a job waiting for him - thanks John!). Hand-crafted in 18K rosy-yellow gold, the bottom plaque measures 15/16 inch, the top measures 9/16 inch; together they drop down about 1 3/4 inches including the ear wires. Singular, extra-special and sensational, they date back to the turn-of-the-last-century.
