Avant-Garde Seed Pearl Dangle Earrings by A.J. Hedges, Circa 1900
20-1-12260
ABOUT THESE EARRINGS
Founded by Andrew J. Hedges, Wallace M. Hedges, and John Obrig in 1877 in Newark, New Jersey, A.J. Hedges became one of the largest and most prominent manufacturers of Victorian Jewelry in the United States. These earrings, aptly named 'Avant-garde,' have an intriguing design that was somewhat 'outside the lines' of the styles around 1900. Evocative of boat sails, the angular openwork shapes are fashioned in 14K gold, the tops dotted with the tiniest of lustrous white seed pearls, while the lower halves are accented by a single pearl. Rare and wonderful, distinctive and delightfully different. Hand fabricated.
