ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator was Queen of the Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt from 51 to 30 BC, and the last active Hellenistic pharaoh. Though infamous for her romantic liaisons, Cleopatra was also politically savvy and probably wore very cool jewelry, perhaps pieces akin to this fabulous fringe necklace. Using the complementary colors of orange and blue with creative moxie, the designer of this remarkable necklace fashioned strands of carved carnelian, lapis lazuli, turquoise, and gold beads. The strikingly colorful compositions are connected by an inner strand of small turquoise and gold beads and an outer strand of lapis and gold beads, all together forming a wide and stunning statement piece like no other. In a word - wow! For the queen in you. Hand-fabricated in silver with gold-filled elements, it is adjustable from 15 1/2 inches to 17 inches.
