ABOUT THIS RING

Who needs a snow globe when you can have one of these? Yes, the snow in those whimsical domes of glass swirls around for a bit, but, alas, it settles to the bottom. Not so with this utterly enthralling 8.03 carat high-dome cabochon opal of Ethiopian* origin. The flecks of riotous color create a harlequin pattern of electric blue, green, orange, yellow, and red that pierce its translucent white body that isn't settling anywhere. The glorious gem is encircled by a halo of glittering round brilliant-cut diamonds held by striking reed-like prongs, all crowning a substantial bright platinum shank. No shaking necessary. Total diamond weight, 1.02 carats. Currently ring size 5 3/4. *Not that you would ever think of doing so, but here is a word of caution; Ethiopian opals should not be submerged in water for extended periods as it causes their colors to disappear. Though the color will return, it's best to avoid this.
