ABOUT THIS JEWELRY

The large species of manta rays can reach 23 feet in width. Fortunately, we have a smaller version that will fit quite nicely on your lapel or wherever you choose to pin it (the accommodating sea creature can also be suspended from a chain). Manta means "blanket" or "cloak" in Spanish and is an apt description for the large flat fish. This one is particularly intriguing as its body is crafted in hand carved chalcedony—dyed a striking periwinkle blue—and its diamond-dotted fins, tail, and horns gleam in 18K yellow gold. A fascinating fish and an arresting jewel. Hand fabricated.

About Estate Jewelry

Though it calls to mind grand manor houses in the English countryside, “estate” is just a fancy way of describing any piece of jewelry with a previous owner. That’s pretty much everything in our collection. We tend to use “estate” to refer to pieces in our collection with a more modern or contemporary design, or vintage-inspired designs. These perennial gems are selected in harmony with our original antique and vintage pieces…they’re just a little bit younger!

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
