ABOUT THIS RING

A rare and riveting stone, demantoid garnets--first discovered in the Ural Mountains of Russia--are imbued with a glorious green hue and beautifully reflect many colors of light. The 2.05 carat stone that crowns this classically styled ring is particularly fascinating. Not only does it bear the intriguing curved 'horsetail' inclusion recognized as very desirable by garnet lovers, it also exhibits a rare Alexandrite-like color change--highly unusual--when viewed in daylight or under fluorescent or incandescent light. The mesmerizing stone is encircled by a blazing halo of icy white round brilliant cut diamonds that also adorn the shoulders of the bold and brightly polished platinum shank. A captivating collectible. Total diamond weight, .88 carat. Currently ring size 6 1/4. Accompanied by a GIA Gemological Report stating: Species: Andradite Garnet. Variety: Demantoid. Color: Yellowish Green changing to Yellowish Brown. Comments: This stone exhibits a change of color when viewed under daylight or fluorescent vs incandescent light.

About Estate Jewelry

Though it calls to mind grand manor houses in the English countryside, “estate” is just a fancy way of describing any piece of jewelry with a previous owner. That’s pretty much everything in our collection. We tend to use “estate” to refer to pieces in our collection with a more modern or contemporary design, or vintage-inspired designs. These perennial gems are selected in harmony with our original antique and vintage pieces…they’re just a little bit younger!

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
