ABOUT THIS RING
Discovered off the west coast of Italy somewhere between the late 1600s or early 1700s, tourmaline, because of its considerable variety of colors (it has the widest range of colors in the mineral kingdom), has often been mistaken for other gemstones, including emeralds. The elegant 4.5 carat stone in this estate ring, is a slender column of glistening, crystalline forest green that flashes panels of lighter green at every turn, while a half-dozen glittering round brilliant-cut diamonds add contrasting bright-white sparkle east and west. Make no mistake: it's stunning. 9/16 inch. Total diamond weight, .36 carat. Hand fabricated in platinum, currently ring size 6 1/2.
