ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

In 1891, French artist Paul Gaugin headed to Tahiti to escape modern Europe. The beauty and the culture of French Polynesia enthralled him and were the inspiration for his strikingly vivid and intriguing paintings during that time. While his paintings reflected his captivation with Tahiti, the waters of the island produce their own captivating creations—pearls. One of those pearls is presented in this arresting estate necklace. Bearing a dark silvery color with purple overtones, the lustrous ocean gem is orbited by a halo of glittering, bright white round brilliant-cut diamonds accented with a single channel-set princess-cut diamond, and suspends from a silky, sinuous snake chain. Inspiring, indeed. Total diamond weight, 1.03 carats. Pearl measures 12.88 x 13.22 x 12.44mm. Chain measures 16 1/4 inches.

About Estate Jewelry

Though it calls to mind grand manor houses in the English countryside, “estate” is just a fancy way of describing any piece of jewelry with a previous owner. That’s pretty much everything in our collection. We tend to use “estate” to refer to pieces in our collection with a more modern or contemporary design, or vintage-inspired designs. These perennial gems are selected in harmony with our original antique and vintage pieces…they’re just a little bit younger!

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
