German Aquamarine, Enamel and Pearl Festoon Necklace, Circa 1900
ABOUT THIS NECKLACE
Rather unexpectedly hailing from Germany, around the turn-of-the-20th-century, this fetching festoon early-Art Nouveau necklace--fashioned like a wondrous web--is an openwork beauty strikingly accented with glossy white enamel and dotted with shimmering seed and natural pearls. Adding sparkle and color in the lightest of pastel blues, a dangling oval aquamarine centers the impressive (measures 2 1/4 by 3 inches) and captivating confection, while a pear-shaped stone dances below. The total length of necklace (including width of centerpiece) is 16 1/4 inches. Hand fabricated in 9K gold. Stamped Germany.
