ABOUT THIS NECKLACE
Named after the great 16th century German artist Hans Holbein, not because he designed them but because they appeared on many of his portrait paintings, this stunning example of 'Holbeinesque' jewels centers on an oval garnet carbuncle surrounded by polychrome champlevé enamel, and in lieu of diamonds, faceted cushion-shape, faint yellow chrysoberyls. Consummate and collectable Victoriana, circa 1870. Just over 1 1/2 by 5/8 inch. The new chain measures 18 inches.
