ABOUT THIS RING

Australian designer Karin Tremont, a master of Swiss goldsmithing, is known for creating jewels that present striking color composition, exquisite--and lavish--details, and, sometimes, they include a delightful surprise. This is one of them. At the center of its orbit, a 2.40 carat double cabochon black opal has nary a space unoccupied by electric flecks of blue, red, orange, violet, yellow, and green. The mesmerizing gem is encircled by a halo of scintillating round brilliant cut diamonds and by a shimmering frame of pave-set round brilliant cuts, all supported by elegant openwork shoulders, each shining with a shield shape set with diamonds that lead to a fluted shank. For a curvy flourish, the side gallery is fashioned with a graceful scroll motif. Oh yes, the surprise. A tiny thumb piece releases the stone so that it can be flipped to show its equally enchanting reverse side, this one surrounded by bright raspberry-red rubies. Extraordinary imagination and artistry realized in one utterly riveting ring. Total diamond weight, .50 carat. Crafted in 18K gold, currently ring size 8 1/2.

About Estate Jewelry

Though it calls to mind grand manor houses in the English countryside, “estate” is just a fancy way of describing any piece of jewelry with a previous owner. That’s pretty much everything in our collection. We tend to use “estate” to refer to pieces in our collection with a more modern or contemporary design, or vintage-inspired designs. These perennial gems are selected in harmony with our original antique and vintage pieces…they’re just a little bit younger!

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
