ABOUT THIS BROOCH
This sweet crowned heart brooch, signifying love and loyalty, is a lovely late-nineteenth-century example of a Scottish love token that dates back to the seventeenth century, when such jewelry and trinkets were sold in "luckenbooths", or lockable stalls, along the Royal Mile near St. Giles Cathedral. Finely crafted in silver and agate, with pretty thistle motif hand-engraving. Measures 1 1/8 inches by 7/8 inch.
