ABOUT THIS JEWELRY

Worn to cover a small childhood scar, pearl chokers were a favorite of Queen Alexandra, the wife of King Edward VII, and her frequent donning of the ornament set a trend that lasted for decades. And the choker is still a chic and unconventional choice of ornament. This contemporary version is a luminous latticework of over 1,200 seed pearls that create a wide and wondrous band of shimmering 'lace' that closes by way of an openwork 14K gold clasp with high-polish and textured finishes. Should you care to add a fancy flourish, a brooch, or a barrette such as the one shown here (90-91-14187), can be attached to the center of the choker. Beautiful and versatile. Hand fabricated, it measures 13 inches.

About Estate Jewelry

Though it calls to mind grand manor houses in the English countryside, “estate” is just a fancy way of describing any piece of jewelry with a previous owner. That’s pretty much everything in our collection. We tend to use “estate” to refer to pieces in our collection with a more modern or contemporary design, or vintage-inspired designs. These perennial gems are selected in harmony with our original antique and vintage pieces…they’re just a little bit younger!

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
