Front and Back of a Drawplate.
Front and Back of a Drawplate.

A drawplate is a sheet of metal with graduated holes through which wire is pulled to reduce its circumference and improve its strength.

Drawplates can also be made of wood or plastic. These wood and plastic drawplates are generally used for drawing down and smoothing chain weaves, such as Viking Knit, to get a smoother, more compact result.
