  • American Silversmith, known as “Silversmith to the Stars”
  • Known for Modernist Designs
  • Married to Becca Blanchard, daughter of silversmith Porter Blanchard
  • Trained as a silversmith by Porter Blanchard – He eventually took over Blanchard’s Sunset Strip location to go into business with his own designs
  • During World War II Allan was contracted by the Gilfillan Company to make a highly classified silver item. Unbeknownst to him, it was a vital part of a secret radar system.
  • Private students included actors James Gleason, Katherine Hepburn and Margaret Sullivan.

  • Adlai Stevenson – campaign button depicting a sterling silver shoe sole with a hole in it.
  • John F. Kennedy – Coffee Urn for a fund-raising event
  • Governor Pat Brown – flatware for the Governor’s mansion with the state’s official seal
  • Winston Churchill – Silver Hairbrush
  • Convair Aviation Company – pin for the first seven astronauts, The design was also displayed at the entrance of NASA headquarters, Florida.
