ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

A classic pearl necklace. Essential diamond studs. Sexy gold hoops. These trend-proof adornments have endured throughout the centuries and, no doubt, you have a least one of them in your jewelry collection. But, when it comes down to making a statement about your unique personal style, you want--ideally--a piece that no one else has, and the wildly creative jewels of the Victorian era offer up a seemingly endless array of such jewels. This breathtaking Egyptian Revival beauty centers on an exquisite drop featuring a turquoise scarab that swivels in an ornate openwork frame embellished with colorful enamel and glittering old mine-cut diamonds, while an oval drop--naturally decorated with its striking matrix--dangles below. No less stunning is the chain from which the pendant hangs. Oval and round cabochon turquoises, in vine-like surrounds, link together by way of ribbed rolo chain and decorative openwork links, completing this captivating one-and-only masterpiece. Hand fabricated in 14K gold, circa 1885. Chain measures 21 inches, drop measures 2 1/2 inches. Condition note: Enamel show light wear commensurate with age of piece.

About Victorian Jewelry

The eclectic Victorians didn’t limit themselves when it came to motifs and themes—if it struck their fancy, they turned it into jewelry. Sweet and sentimental with a distinct romantic streak, Victorian gems expanded upon their Georgian predecessors. The array of styles that blossomed (sometimes quite literally) during this era endure to this day.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
