Victorian Enamel Butterfly with Emeralds and Diamonds
ABOUT THIS BROOCH
Like flowers that fly, butterflies dazzle with their seemingly endless array of colors and patterns. This exquisite Victorian species (circa latter-19th century), with its bright emerald and diamond body, flutters with wings of dusty mauve, plum, and butter yellow enamel, edged with tiny twinkling rose-cuts. To help light the way, its delicate antennae are each tipped with a single rose cut. An utter delight. Hand fabricated in 18K gold, it measures just under 7/8 by 1 3/8 inches. Condition note: Enamel shows slight wear commensurate with age.
