ABOUT THIS JEWELRY
This fabulous, one-of-a-kind, nature-inspired work of wearable art, dating from the second half of the 19th century, artfully depicts a crane (evidently an early-bird since she's caught a worm) magnificently rendered in high-relief against a glossy black and multi-color enamel background, twinkling with rose-cut diamond-centered flowers. Measuring 2 inches by 1 inch, hand fabricated in velvety 14K yellow gold and framed in lustrous natural half-pearls. Throughout Asia, the crane is a symbol of happiness and eternal youth. In Japan, the crane is one of the mystical or holy creatures and symbolizes good fortune and longevity because of its fabled life span of a thousand years.
