Victorian Grisaille Enamel Cherub Pearl Earrings
ABOUT THESE EARRINGS
These cherubs are up to something. Rendered in contrasting, glossy white and black and gold enamel - using the grisaille (Limoges) technique - they are encircled by ornate frames of gleaming seed pearls, tiny gold beads, and delicate cannetille gold work, and appear to be readying their golden bows for some serious matchmaking mischief. Attached to sweeping ear wires, these sizable Victorian earrings are truly intriguing--be prepared to talk about them. Hand fabricated in 14K, they measure just over 1 inch wide by 1 5/8 inches. From Italy, according to the hallmarks.
