ABOUT THIS NECKLACE

An heirloom on a journey. When you open the box that was custom-designed to perfectly fit this Victorian tassel necklace, "magnificent" is the word that comes to mind. The intricately fashioned double chain has both smooth and textured links that culminate in a highly dimensional focal piece decorated with black enamel tracery, small natural seed pearls, and a shimmering tassel on each side. Swinging below, asymmetric lengths of chains are embellished with ornate tassels, some accented with black enamel, and one engraved with the initials "AMG." The two geometric tassels are newer, one of which is inscribed with a maker's mark from between 1915-1934. Giving a further clue to its passage from century to century, the focal piece is hand engraved on the reverse with, "December 1938." (perhaps the date it was given as a gift). An exceptional treasure ready for its next chapter of life—with you! Crafted in 12-15K yellow gold, and 14K rosy-yellow gold, it measures 21 1/2 inches. Dangles measure 1 1/4 to 6 3/4 inches.

About Victorian Jewelry

The eclectic Victorians didn’t limit themselves when it came to motifs and themes—if it struck their fancy, they turned it into jewelry. Sweet and sentimental with a distinct romantic streak, Victorian gems expanded upon their Georgian predecessors. The array of styles that blossomed (sometimes quite literally) during this era endure to this day.

Jewelry Care

As with anything of value, especially sentimental value, taking good care of your vintage and antique jewelry from Lang will enhance its beauty and extend its lifespan. We encourage you to have your jewelry checked and cleaned by us or by your trusted local jeweler every six months, to ensure that each piece is in good wearable condition with all gemstones in place. It’s not uncommon for stones to loosen over time, and it’s much easier to tighten a loose stone than to replace a lost one! As stated in our Repair Policy, we strongly recommend that you allow us to perform any repairs, since our jewelers are specialists in restoring vintage and antique jewelry.
