Victorian Opal Pinwheel Pendant
ABOUT THIS NECKLACE
Opals had a bad rap (something to do with a villain in a Sir Walter Scott novel). Fortunately, the trendsetting Queen Victoria was having none of it. Wearing opals with abandon, and being the arbiter of style for her time, she ushered the mesmerizing stone back into high favor. This delightful 'pinwheel flower' is dotted with seven cabochons of this most glorious stone, all glowing with vivid hues of blue, green, and orange. Wear it and show a little Victorian verve. Circa 1890. Total opal weight, .45 carat. In 14K gold. Chain measures 16 inches.
