Victorian Ruby and Diamond Double Witch's Heart Pendant
ABOUT THIS NECKLACE
A popular motif during the Victorian era, the witch's heart--the tail of which twists to the right--symbolized love, loyalty, betrothal, and even protection (they were often pinned to a baby's blanket to ward off evil spirits). Formerly a brooch, this delightful double interlocking version of two such hearts--one set with shimmering antique single-cut diamonds, the other with vivid cranberry-red rubies--is fancifully embellished with a scalloped design crowned by a trio of rubies and a pair of bright old mine-cut diamonds and suspends from an 18-inch chain. Total diamond weight - .55 carat, total ruby weight - 1.00 carat. Hand fabricated in silver over 9ct. gold (hence of British origin). Chain is blackened sterling silver.
