ABOUT THIS NECKLACE
We're not exactly sure what this is, but it makes for an intriguing piece of jewelry. Suspended from an ultra-fine cable chain, a brightly burnished rectangle--open at its top and bottom (perhaps to hold a tiny secret love note)--is beautifully hand engraved on the front, centered by what appears to be a letter, which one is left to your imagination. The reverse is simply inscribed with the date "1869." A marvelous little mystery. Hand fabricated in 18K gold. Chain measures 18 inches. Condition note: small dent on the side.
