Having the oldest documented history of all gems, turquoise was first used in ancient Mesopotamia, was mined during the First Dynasty of Egypt, and Native Americans, from times past to present day, highly value the brightly hued gem. An unabashed lover of jewelry, Queen Victoria was quite fond of turquoise, and it was a favored gem during the era that bears her name. This ring catches the attention with a gleaming robin's egg blue cabochon turquoise set in a 14K yellow gold millegrain-edge bezel and surrounded by a glinting frame of rose-cut diamonds. The striking composition is supported by a scalloped gallery and by openwork shoulders fashioned with a diamond-dotted leaf-like design. Deep grooves on the shank add the finishing detail. A cool, low-key statement ring that adds Victorian verve to your right-now style. Total diamond weight, .30 carat. Hand fabricated in silver over 14K gold, circa turn-of-the-20th-century, it is currently ring size 8.
