These extremely imaginative jewels were designed with movement and depth and adorned with brilliant and colorful gemstones. The stones ran the gamut from cabochons to faceted to fancifully carved and were very brightly colored. Cartier popularized these jewels in the 1920's after being inspired following a trip to India.
